There is a common misconception in the world that forcing a drug addict into treatment won’t do any good. This is not true. Many addicts have been pushed into rehab and come out clean and in recovery.
How You Can Force the Issue: No more home: Parents and spouses nationwide use their homes as leverage to get addicts into rehab. Lots of addicts will claim they would rather live in the street than go to rehab, but it isn’t always true. They make the claim to get you to drop the subject.
If you tell the addict he must enter rehab within the week or leave your home, be sure you mean it so you can do what needs to happen if he doesn’t get help.
Financial starvation: If you have been paying for the addict’s clothes, food, cell phone, or anything else, let him know now that it stops. Give him the choice
of going to rehab or having every penny cut off until he does. Once he is in rehab, he will need to accept responsibility for his own bills anyway. You might as well start the ball rolling now.

Celebrity Rehab: Tough Love Vehicle restrictions: If the car is in your name, remove his right to use it. Allowing him to use it while in active addiction could cause you some liability anyway. Tell him he cannot get behind the wheel again until he has successfully completed a recovery program.
Final thoughts: An out of control addict is a danger to himself and others. Regardless of his feelings about what you are trying to make him do, you know you are doing it for his own good.
In his current mental state, he cannot make rational decisions about his own recovery. Don’t feel guilty for getting him the help he needs any way you can.
